Inside Look

Our class room at the Heritage Foundation will include the Weber House, a 19th century working commercial orange grove home established here in Southern California and will also include its barn and orchard. Incorperated on the grounds is a windmill, a well, an outhouse, a chicken coop, animal pens, sheds and farm euipment, all providing a variety of learning sources and hands-on activities.

The Farm House

The real life home to several occupants, beginning in 1867 and continuing through until the 1970's. The home is most historically known for being in the John Weber family for most of those years. John Weber and his wife and two sons were orange grove farmers. When Mr Weber built a second new home near by, the farm house became home to different families that worked in his groves. The house will be our class room to the past. I'ts holds a vast number of antiques, all of which are waiting to be explored. There will be chores to be done and many activites centered around the house, fetching water from the well, churning butter, preparing food.....to name just a few.

The Barn

The barn today is used to display various old farm tools dating back over 100 years. It also is used for a country store during fund raisers and city events. The Heritage Foundation is an organization appointed to over see the Weber House Historical Site which is part of the Citys' Historical Society. Through out the year the foundation hosts several fund raising events; a Pumpkin Patch, Car Show and Fall Festival in October, A 'Snow Day' and Christmas tree sales in December,

U-pick oranges from Januray til March and a 'Spring Squeese' in March. All of the events at the farm will become part of our classroom activities and will entail hard work and gratification, not to mention the fun.

The Orchard

The orange grove at the heritage foundation has been farmed and producing oranges for decades. Still farmed today by the foundation, its orchards and gardens produce citus and vegetables that will become part of our

many events and vast learning experiences for the students of this class. Its hard work operating a farm. Along with the groves and gardens there are outside chores to be done, animals to tend to and grounds maitenence. Lots of opportunity for new skills, discovery and building self esteem.
